Introduction

The Islamic Institute of Education (IIE) was founded in 1989 by Shaykh al-Ḥadīth Mawlānā Muḥammad ‘Abdullāh Sāleem and his late wife, with a vision to preserve the sacred knowledge of Islam and provide Muslim youth in America with an education rooted in the Qur’ān, Sunnah, and classical Islamic sciences. What began as a modest initiative in their home in Elgin, Illinois, has since evolved into one of the most respected Islamic institutions in the country. By the grace of Allah ﷻ, IIE has produced hundreds of ḥuffāẓ and dozens of ‘ulamā’, many of whom now serve as imāms, educators, and leaders across the nation.

Mission & Vision

With a commitment to preserving, disseminating, and upholding the legacy of Islamic scholarship, we carry forward the sacred trust of knowledge through an unbroken sanad connecting to Rasūlullāh ﷺ. Our goal is to nurture students who are deeply rooted in the Qur’ān and Sunnah, preparing them to serve their communities with wisdom, integrity, and sincerity.

We strive to meet the diverse needs of the community by providing a holistic education that fosters a strong connection to Islam at every stage of learning. Through our dedicated Ḥifẓ program, we ensure the preservation of the Qur’ān in both memory and practice while instilling in students a deep reverence for its message and guidance.

For those seeking a deeper engagement with Islamic scholarship, we offer a rigorous path of study that equips students to navigate contemporary challenges while remaining anchored in tradition. Recognizing the need for practical guidance, we also serve the broader community through our Darul Ifta, ensuring that individuals can seek reliable answers to their religious and ethical concerns.

Our focus is not only on producing ḥuffāẓ and ‘ulamā’, but on cultivating leaders who embody the prophetic model in every aspect of their lives—preserving, disseminating, and carrying forward the sacred trust of Islamic knowledge with excellence, devotion, and service to the Ummah.
