Alimiyyah Program
Our ʿĀlimiyyah Program is a rigorous six-year, post-secondary course for Islamic scholarship. It is designed to train students in the various classical Islamic sciences. The course is based on the traditional Dars-e-Nizami curriculum, encompassing a wide range of essential disciplines, including:
Arabic Grammar (Nahw and Sarf) – The foundation of Islamic scholarship, Arabic grammar allows students to properly understand, interpret, and analyze the Qur’an, Hadith, and classical Islamic texts. Nahw (syntax) governs sentence structure, while Sarf (morphology) focuses on word formation and derivation, enabling precise comprehension and articulation.
Arabic Literature (Balaghah and Insha’) – A deep study of eloquence and expression in the Arabic language. Balaghah (rhetoric) refines one’s ability to appreciate the linguistic beauty of the Qur’an and classical texts, while Insha’(composition) enhances written and spoken communication, an essential skill for scholars and educators.
Logic (Mantiq) – The art of structured reasoning and critical analysis. Logic refines the intellect by training students in sound argumentation, distinguishing between valid and fallacious reasoning, and strengthening their ability to engage in scholarly debate and jurisprudential discussions.
Islamic Theology (ʿAqidah) – A comprehensive study of Islamic beliefs, focusing on the core tenets of Tawhid(Oneness of Allah), Nubuwwah (Prophethood), and Akhirah (the Hereafter). This subject also addresses theological debates, refutations of ideological misconceptions, and the defense of Islamic creed through rational and textual evidence.
Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh) – The science of deriving Islamic rulings from primary sources. This subject explores the methodologies of interpreting the Qur’an and Sunnah, the role of consensus (Ijma’), analogy (Qiyas), and other legal principles that form the foundation of Fiqh across various madhabs (schools of thought).
Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh) – A detailed study of Islamic law covering acts of worship (Ibadah), financial transactions (Mu’amalat), marriage and family laws (Nikah), and ethical and societal regulations. Students learn how rulings are applied in real-world scenarios, preparing them to guide their communities with legal and moral clarity.
Sciences of Hadith Interpretation (ʿUlum al-Hadith) – Understanding the methodology of Hadith authentication, classification, and transmission. This subject examines the reliability of narrators (Rijal), the distinction between Sahih(authentic) and Da’if (weak) Hadith, and the principles governing Hadith interpretation and application.
Hadith Studies (Hadith) – A direct engagement with the sayings and actions of the Prophet ﷺ. Students analyze Hadith collections such as Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, and Mishkat al-Masabih, extracting legal, ethical, and spiritual guidance from the words of the Prophet ﷺ.
Principles of Qur’anic Exegesis (Usul al-Tafsir) – A study of the foundational principles governing the interpretation of the Qur’an. This subject delves into linguistic, historical, and contextual factors that influence Tafsir, ensuring a correct and scholarly approach to understanding Allah’s words.
Qur’anic Exegesis (Tafsir al-Qur’an) – An in-depth analysis of the Qur’an, exploring its meanings, historical context, and practical applications. Classical and contemporary Tafsir works, such as Tafsir al-Jalalayn, Tafsir ibn Kathir, and Tafsir al-Qurtubi, are studied to understand the layered wisdom of the Divine Revelation.
Prophetic Biography (Sirah) – A detailed study of the life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, covering his character, struggles, and leadership. By understanding the Prophet’s ﷺ life, students draw practical lessons on resilience, justice, and spirituality, learning how to apply his teachings in their own lives and communities.
