INSTITUTE OF ISLAMIC EDUCATION

President’s Message

Dear Brothers/Sisters
Al salamalykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu,

Welcome to one of the oldest institutions of Islamic learning in the United States. This institute was founded in the early 1980s so that we, as a community, could establish an institute of Islamic learning in the suburbs of Chicago. At the time the Muslim community was scattered and, as a result, insignificant in size. Ml Abdullah Saleem and his fellow scholars saw the need for a space that served communal and religious needs, and it out of these twin concerns that propelled them to establish IIE.

IIE, which had begun in a small residential complex, attracted Muslim men, women and children; and the community relied upon us for learning Qur’an, sunnah, fiqh, ethics and Islamic values. Simultaneously, IIE became a center of family counseling and many other social and religious activities. In time and with the support of the community, IIE emerged as one of the pioneering and oldest madrasahs in Illinois.

We are indebted to those who, before us, have preserved this knowledge; now it is our turn to uphold our legacy of Islamic scholarship for this generation and the next. This is the mission of IIE, a mission that will serve the growing Muslim communities across the United States. I do wholeheartedly welcome you to visit this precious institution, as often as your time will allow, so that you, too, can contribute to our strong community.
Sincerely yours,

Ubaidullah Saleem,
President
