MASJID AL ISLAM SERVICES
Masjid al-Islam, Past and Present
The masjid, which started as a musallah in 1996, passed through many changes and developments. This is the masjid, which, in 1999, hosted Shaykh Salih bin Abdullah al-Humaid, the Imam of Masjid al Haram in Makkah al Mukarramah. It also witnessed khutbaat by the prominent muhaddith Hadhrat Mawlana Muhammad Nai’m Sahab Shaykh al Hadith of Darul Uloom Waqf Deoband. This was Shaykh al Hadith Hadhrat Mawlana Na’im Sahab (may Allah have mercy upon him), who led the foundation stone of the new and current building of Masjid al-Islam in 2007. The construction was completed in 2012, and the new building was inaugurated in the same year.
Serving the greater Elgin area, Masjid al-Islam, situated at 1290 Bluff City Blvd., Elgin, can accommodate 1000 worshipers (men and women). It organizes many programs for the community, which include regular daily five prayers, Friday Night (a lecture series for the community), two Jumu’ah salat every week, Tarawih in Ramadan, I’tikaf, Eid al-Firt and Eid al-Adha, etc.
This masjid is not only a place of worship but is also a center of learning. The Masjid al-Islam is the main attraction of the Institute of Islamic Education, which offers education of the Qur’an, Hadith, Fiqh, and other Islamic sciences and academics.
Family & Counseling
Institute of Islamic Education offers counseling services for families as well as individuals. IIE encourages the community to approach the scholars here to assist and guide them through any difficulties they might face. Allah, the Most High, states in the Qur’an, “And it is not for the believers to go forth all at once. For there should separate from every division of them a group [remaining] to obtain understanding in the religion and warn their people when they return to them that they might be cautious” (10:22). These scholars, men, and women, are here to serve the community in all of their religious needs and contribute in any way possible.
Nikah
IIE offers its masjid and faculty for Marriage (Nikah) services. In line with the Islamic teachings of publicizing one’s marriage, IIE welcomes anyone to use its facilities for such an auspicious occasion. Marriages at IIE are facilitated by qualified and experienced scholars. IIE offers marriage certificates in line with the county’s guidelines.
Janazah Prayer and Burial
In Masjid al-Islam, Janazah Salah (funeral prayers) are offered to deceased Muslims, which is an ideal choice for many Muslims in the Chicagoland area. Imam leads the prayer and may also escort the funeral procession to the neighboring Bluff City Cemetery (945 Bluff City Blvd, Elgin, IL 60120) which is conveniently located on a one-minute drive (0.7 miles) from the mosque. This close proximity allows for the funeral process to be done in a smooth and uninterrupted manner.
